Dear Friends and Family,
I have been a supporter of Andean Health & Development in Ecuador for many years and am riding my bike to raise funds and awareness for their incredible work. I ask you to join me in supporting them!
AHD has begun plans to build a third state-of-the-art teaching hospital in Cotopaxi, Ecuador to provide high quality care to a severely underserved community and to train more of Ecuador’s doctors. Funds raised from my bike ride will go toward this new facility and allowing AHD continue its ongoing work to provide high quality care to rural Ecuador.
Some highlights from AHD’s 26 years in Ecuador are the following:
- AHD’s two hospitals have provided high quality medical care to more than 175,000 low income Ecuadorians.
- Their programs are locally led and operated.
- 75 Ecuadorian family physicians have graduated from AHD’s residency program; this is Ecuador’s next generation of global health leaders.
- AHD’s hospitals provide continuing education to nurses, doctors, administrators, and other staff.
- The local team conducts meaningful public health research and publishes medical manuals and journals.
